Circumcision
Circumcision is the surgical removal of the skin covering the tip of the penis. It may be done for religious reasons or as a treatment for phimosis. In may also be done as a preventive health care measure to decrease the chances of acquiring sexually transmitted diseases.
After the procedure
It takes about 7-10 days for the wound to heal. The tip of the penis is likely to be sore at first and the penis make look red and swollen. A yellow crust may be seen on the penis for few days. It is alright to wash the penis as it heals. Sexual contact should be avoided for 6 weeks after the surgery.
